Ruff-pack: Woof Camp 2011, the free annual puppy party held at International Mr. Leather in Chicago, IL, is over for another year! All weekend long, people kept stopping by and telling Scott Douglas (owner of SquarePeg Toys and sponsor of Woof Camp) and myself how this was the best Woof Camp yet and how much fun they had! To see photos of what occurred at this year's Woof Camp 2011 visit www.woofcamp.com/wc2011/ or visit Woof Camp's Official Photographer Rich Stadtmiller's website at http://bit.ly/imy74O . The two session pup party was held this year on Saturday night, May 28th , instead of the usual Friday night, and was even more heavily attended than in past years. The private session was from 9pm-10pm (when only canines and Handlers/Trainers were allowed into the event space) and the public session was from 10pm-Midnight. The three-hour event was a great success with over 85 pups/canines, 52 Handlers/Trainers and more than 670+ bipeds in attendance. While supplies lasted, people who attended the private Session A received a commemorative brass/enamel "Woof Camp" pin in the shape of a fire hydrant. This year several changes and surprises occurred for those who were able to attend: An Adopt-A-Pup program was initiated this year that allowed stray pups and pup-less Handlers/Trainers to connect. A sign-up board was available at the SquarePeg Toys vendor market booth on Friday and Saturday; Viewing stage platforms were added to both sides of the room to allow more attendees to watch the pup antics in the Active Area; We added a more visually defining orange safety plastic fencing that help separate the Quiet Area from the Active Area. This allowed the Quiet Area to be more frequently used, compared to past years; The free Pet Portraits by the guys from FireHawk Inc. were moved into the Quiet Area where it was professionally set-up with a backdrop/equipment and more people had their pictures taken than ever before. Tagging strays with fluorescent yellow wrist bands made it easier to identify them so they could be played with by Handlers and attendees; The popular pinatas were increased from one to four pinatas done at one time with special surprises inside each this year: hundreds of dollars worth of silicone toys from SquarePeg Toys was inside each pinata for those who stayed for Session B; Our surprise mystery guest for Session B turned out to be our arch-nemesis the US Postal Service Mailman who threw packages at the pups to distract them (each package also contained a toy from SquarePeg Toys) but in less then 30 seconds the Mailman was brought down by the pack, with shirt buttons popping off and even one of his boots flying across the room. In the end the volunteer Security Handlers had to step in to rescue the poor guy. Extra thanks goes to the mailman, Keith S., for volunteering to let the pack maul him; Even the cone of shame was brought out. Two pups who deserved the cone had left already, but we did find another instigator and duly coned him, his pack brother gleefully pointing and filling the cone with left over toys from the floor. And finally the official group photo was taken at Midnight with those pups who stuck around to the very end. As always, I want to express my appreciation and gratitude for everyone who attended Woof Camp 2011. Ultimately there is a small group of volunteers who help make this event possible, and to them I want to especially say "Thank You." First and foremost is our sponsor Scott Douglas of SquarePeg Toys (owner and maker of the original silicone puppy tails). Without his ongoing financial support, helpful advice/input, and support of our community in general, Woof Camp would likely not be the "free entrance" and successful party that it is today. Please make sure to either email and say thank you or shop from his wide selection of erotic toys and support his business. This party would not have occurred without the pups and Handlers who came forward and pitched in to make the party happen. "Thank You" for giving of yourselves, your time and your "can do" attitude and energy. I am extremely grateful. The following are those who deserve howls and a-paws (in alphabetical order). I apologize in advance to anyone who I may have inadvertently overlooked:
For those who enjoyed the music being played at Woof camp 2011, DJ Aarf is allowing the pack to freely download the Woof Camp 2011 music set he did.
