WELCOME TO WOOF CAMP 2012

Come Play!

Woof Camp 2010-Thank You Celebrating five years, Woof Camp 2012, the annual pup party held at International Mr. Leather (IMRL) in Chicago, IL, is once again approaching! Representing the pup community, this event promises to be one of the most playful parties at IMRL. This year’s theme is “Come Play!” and features some surprises along with the free Pet Portraits and the Group Photo at 9:50pm! Pups, dogs and wolves are encouraged to bring along their own water bowls, chew or squeaky toys, owners and friends for a howling good time!

We are proud to have SquarePeg Toys, (vendor booth 210) the original silicone puppy tail maker, once again be the sole sponsor for the event which is produced by The San Francisco K-9 Unit. We are welcoming DJ Pup Blue as the new DJ providing the background music for the party. The contributing graphic artist for this years official poster is PonyDog Troy from California.

The pup party will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 East Wacker Drive, in the West Tower on the Gold Level in Regency Ballrooms B and A which is located next to the Ballroom Registration Desk. Look for the Woof Camp banner and event posters outside the ballroom.

.

Woof Camp will feature two sessions, A and B.
Photography and videography will be allowed during both sessions.

There will be notices outside the event doors as well as along the walls reminding people that “This event is being recorded via video and photo. You expressly consent to Woof Camp and IMRL's inclusion of your likeness, image, voice and other aspects of your appearance of like nature in all media now known or hereafter devised throughout the world by your participation in this event.”

Please remember that Woof Camp is designed as a male energy event. We would ask both pups, dogs, wolves and Handlers/Trainers of both sexes to respect the others' preferences and signals (a growl or head turned to the side/looking away is usually a good sign to ease off or not interested).

Session A ~ Open to Handlers & Canines Only

9:00pm – 10:00pm: Pups, Dogs, Wolves, Strays, Handlers/Trainers Only

This session will be closed to the general public, to provide a safe, less intimidating space for those new to the scene and those already in it to meet other like minded individuals to play, learn, train, socialize and meet new pups, dogs, wolves or Handlers/Trainers.

There is NO invitation list or pre-registration for this session. Simply show up -- canines in gear or with your gear bag to change; Handlers/Trainers with leash, toys, or treats -- and we'll let you in.
The secret password is "bark bark woof"!

For attending Handlers/Trainers, it will offer an opportunity to meet some pups, dogs, wolves or spend time with their own to focus on training, such as leash training, fetch and behavioral techniques (sit, give a paw, stay, rollover, etc.).

We anticipate more pups, dogs, wolves than Handlers/Trainers and there will be two overflow areas for them: An Active Area for those pups, dogs, wolves wanting to play and a more subdued Quiet Area for those who are new to the scene, who might be intimidated by the larger and more aggressive Active Area or for those who just want to rest, take a nap or nuzzle with each other or their Handler/Trainer.

Piñatas will once again be offered for the pups, dogs and wolves to destroy.

Group Photo
At 9:50pm during Session A we will once again take an official photograph of those who attended Woof Camp 2012. Photography is being provided by Doug of Pixel Pup Photography.

Pet Portraits Free of Charge!
Located in the Quiet Area, we will have a designated space set up where participants can come and have their picture professionally taken by Doug of Pixel Pup Photography against a backdrop. Finished pictures will be emailed after IMRL to attendees or attendees may use their own picture taking device. If possible, please bring a personal contact card to attach to the model waiver/release forms, thank you.

Session B ~ Open To The General Public

10:00pm – Midnight

This session will be open to the general public. This is the session that is generally heavily attended by observers.

There will be background music and two designated areas for fun monitored by volunteer staff.

There will be an Active Area for those who want to romp around, interact with other pups, dogs and wolves and Handlers/Trainers and have some general fun and a Quiet Area for pups, dogs and wolves who may be intimidated by the larger and more aggressive Active Area and want a way to test the waters first. It is also the area for those who just want to rest, take a nap, nuzzle with each other or hang out with their Handler/Trainer.

Piñatas will once again be offered for the pups, dogs and wolves to destroy.

Additional "surprises" normally occur during this session, keep your eyes and ears alert!
